What We are Learning and Why

What to do if you are working from home

If students are self-isolating then work will be emailed to them from their class teacher or set on SMHW as a ‘Classwork’  which will appear in red on student SMHW calendar and To-do list.  To get going quickly before the teacher makes contact students can use the Yellow sheets link for the subjects for that day’s lesson and find the relevant lessons on Oak National Academy to keeping learning on track.   As soon as students can return to school then they can bring the work they have completed and fix it into their exercise book for the teacher to feedback.  Students can also submit work via SMHW for feedback.

Students should check both school email and SMHW.    They will receive work that will cover the whole of the self-isolation period – this may not be school work for the first day of the isolation as it will take time for teachers to set the work and get it to students.

Teaching and Learning Policy

curriculum programmes

Falmouth school have produced a Curriculum Programme for each learning cycle for each year group as itemised below.  In this booklet it has for each subject studied a Yellow Slip which itemised the main topics that are to  be covered by the student during the learning cycle.  This allows us as a school to structure and sequence the learning and allow the staff, students and parents know what is being learnt during each learning cycle.

These yellow slips allow students to monitor what has been covered and know what due to be covered then see how the module of learning fits in the bigger picture.  Students can self-evaluate their learning as they progress through the topic by rating their understanding of the each topic in the module.  These can also be used as a revision aid, especially when used in conjunction with the relevant Knowledge organiser.
