Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance

Falmouth School attendance is overseen by Mr Brokenshire and Mr Lumbers.

At Falmouth School we recognise that attending school regularly and on time has a positive impact on learning, progress and achievement. Excellent attendance and punctuality is the key for our student’s success. For that reason, we must ensure that attendance and punctuality are the highest they possibly can be in order to prepare our students for their future adult life. It is the responsibility of everyone in our school community – parents, staff, students and governors to ensure they achieve this. Therefore, we are committed to monitoring and reviewing the attendance of all our students regularly.

Punctuality

Lateness = Lost Learning = Minutes amount to days

Students should arrive at the school for no later than 8.35am. Registration begins at 8.35am and form tutors electronically take the first register of the day. Tutor time and the morning register closes at 09:00am.

Students who arrive later than 09:00am must report to the main school reception, to sign in if they arrive after this time. Arriving late, after registration, without a legitimate reason will be recorded as an unauthorised absence. If a student needs to leave school early they need to bring a note to show their form tutor and make sure they show the note to the main reception and sign out when they leave. The school will contact you if we have concerns about punctuality.

Recent research has demonstrated that there is a clear link between poor attendance at school and lower academic achievements.

96% attendance is the minimum target at Falmouth School. Students with attendance of less than this are at risk of underachievement.
