Engineering students at Falmouth School recently attended the Bloodhound school event hosted by the Aerohub and Newquay airport. The event was full of activities for students to take part in, with plenty of variety.
There was a huge STEM influence, with lots Science, Technology and Maths specific tasks in partnership with regional and national companies. With nearly five thousand students from Primary, Secondary and Colleges, which made for a superb atmosphere on the day.
Falmouth students were invited to see the car and driver Andy Green, run through pre-checks before being organised onto the runway. The main event was a speed run for the car, which was performed with great care and attention so all students could see.
Head of Technology at Falmouth School Ray Cilia spoke of what was a great day. ”The engagement the students received by both the Bloodhound Team, the Aerohub Team and Companies was fantastic” he said. “All students said the day was a real eye opener to what opportunities exist in Cornwall and further afield. The aim of the day was to inspire youngsters and Richard Noble and his team circulated around the event talking to all” he added.
