Falmouth School has gone recycle friendly in the school canteen to do their bit for the environment. With the current plastic epidemic making the headlines with increasing frequency, Falmouth School have moved to ensure all school meals are no longer served on disposable plates, with disposable plastic cutlery.
Students will now be picking up their meals and snacks with reusable plates and steel cutlery, in an aim to reduce the amount of plastic created. Even such items on the menu as pasta pots have been considered, and will be now served in cardboard pots.
Head of School Alex George said, “We all saw the Blue Planet series with David Attenborough. While there were many amazing sights, it was shocking to see how plastics were affecting life in the oceans. It’s great that Falmouth School can play its part in reducing the use of disposable plastic items.”
