Hundreds were in attendance at Falmouth School, as the annual Dance Partners event in collaboration with Victoria’s Dance Academy took place this week. For a fourth consecutive year, students from Falmouth School, Falmouth College and Victoria's Dance Academy showcased a collaboration of their finest work
The Year 9 BTEC Dance Group kicked things off with a bang with their Hip Hop piece 'Troupe', to set the tone for a fantastic evening, before a popular first number of the evening for the primary group with a tap rendition of 'Rock Lobster'. Lower School students in Year 7 and 8 were up next with a piece called 'Believer', before a beautiful duet from Gabby Gillow and Evie Phillips. Aimee Wandless was the first individual act of the evening with her 1st place winning solo from a competition in Barcelona, followed by 'Tilted' from the mesmerizing Pointe Group.
Members of the Cornwall School Games bronze medal winning team in Year 10 and 11 performed their piece 'Home?' which explored the refugee crisis, before another solo piece, this time ballet, from young dancer Ellie. The Year 8 and 9 dance team also had bronze medal success at the Cornwall School Games and showed why, with their witch themed jazz performance of 'Poison', before the duo of Imogen Steele and Poppy Morris' piece to Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy'.
There was a Celtic feel to the next number with the tap groups performance of 'Shipping up to Boston', who were followed by the returning Year 7 and 8 Dance Group for Mamma Mia's 'Voulez Vous'. With the night winding down, there was a stunning solo piece from Imogen Steele, followed by the Senior Modern group for what provided some strong lifts! The final act of the night, was a superb extended performance piece from Year 12 Elevate, who's performance of 'Notes on the Art of Poetry'- an exploration into the life of poet Dylan Thomas, was a fitting way to close another fantastic show.
Dance teacher at Falmouth School Miss Roberts said “I would like to thank Victoria Keast and her team of teachers and assistants for her stunning and varied contribution to such a fantastic programme of dance. Also to the technicians at Falmouth School for making tonight such a slick and professional show. Most of all I have to thank the wonderful students, who have shown such passion and dedication – I know that both Victoria and myself are really proud and feel that the future of Dance is looking bright in Falmouth with such impressive talent emerging.”
