Harvey Thompson - Head Boy
It has been a busy start to the new school year and even more so for our new JLT team and this week. we caught up with Head Boy Harvey Thompson. Harvey spoke about what it meant to him to be appointed, what he hopes to achieve and advice for our new Year 7 students and those looking to join us this time next year.
Harvey spoke of his desire to be a role model during his time as Head Boy, saying “I’d like to be a role model. Obviously there’s something different about me, but I don’t think that should stop you from what you want to achieve. I have gone after something I wanted to do and I’ve achieved it. I’d like to use that as example for every student.”
“There are obviously many differences due to the pandemic, but I’d like to change the idea and perception about difference and disability. We all have differences and I think we should be able to talk about it and help people,” he added.
Harvey was quick to point out that Falmouth School is a slightly different place than in previous years, but commented “it still feels like a safe place even with the restrictions. It’s a bit limiting, but I still feel safe and happy in school. My favourite part is the sense of community. Everybody helps each other here.”
Harvey also had some words of wisdom for our new Year 7 students and for those thinking about joining us in September 2021. “On my first day of Year 7, I cried and couldn’t go into class as I was scared, but now I think the school has helped me become more confident in myself and become more cooperative with other people,” he said.
“They need to not worry and be confident in what they do. Know what you’d like to do and how to do it. Just be yourself and unique,” he added.
