Letters from the Headteacher
Update - 18 September 2020
September 18th 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move into the second week of term students are getting used to the new arrangements at school. We are asking students to wear their face coverings when they are in the busy corridors. This shows respect for other students and staff around them. Please make sure they have their face covering with them every day. The new phrase of “Hands, Face, Space” is an easy way of reminding children how they should behave, both inside and outside school. Also please note that the Government’s ‘Rule of 6’ applies to children outside of school. Your child should not be in a group any larger than 6 at any time, we have had members of the public mention this to us about children on their way home from school and in parks in Falmouth.
Student attendance in the first week of term was very good but this week we have noticed that students have been absent more often. We are aware of the difficulties with Covid testing; please let us know if this is the situation you are facing. School attendance is hugely important for students to make good progress, as well as being compulsory. There have been many articles in the media recently about the damage that the closing of schools may have caused, so attendance at school is really vital now. It has also been some time since our students have worn school uniform and we are reminding them that they need to wear correct uniform to school. This includes our rules for jewellery, only one small stud in each ear and no facial jewellery or rings, and for school shoes. Please refer to the school website for details.
Our transition events for the intake of new year 7s in 2021 has now begun. It may seem strange to our new Year 7 that this has started already! We are making a number of videos available online and are offering tours after school times. Sadly we will not run the usual Open Evening event as we believe this would put students and staff at risk from Covid-19, it is always such a busy evening! If you know parents of primary age children, please let them know of these new arrangements. You may wish to see if you can spot your child in any of the videos that are posted in the coming weeks!
Another event on the horizon is the Year 9 information evening. This will be a ‘remote’ event that will involve presentations and you will have the opportunity to put your questions via email. Unfortunately, more of our events will be taking this type of format. If there are specific questions that you would like to raise them please feel free to email into firstname.lastname@example.org at any time.
Thank you for your continued support.
