Letters from the Headteacher

Update - 25 September 2020

September 25th 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Next week we will move into October and students are now well used to the arrangements that we have in place in school. I have spoken to students and they are happy with their zones and how we have adjusted how school works at the moment. We will keep this under review to make sure that the safety of the whole school community is preserved as much as possible and that students receive the education that they deserve.

As the fine run of weather seems to be coming to an end we will need to make a few changes to our arrangements for break times in school. If Poser’s pitch becomes wet and slippery Year 8 will be using an area near the DT building instead. On days when it is very wet all students will need to be in their indoor zones if they are not accessing the canteen. They may find this is an improvement on what was available before coronavirus! As it is colder now, please make sure that your child is dressed warmly enough as we will be maintaining adequate ventilation throughout the school. Inside the building children will be expected to be wearing their school uniform or PE kit, so extra layers underneath are recommended!

It was great to have so many Year 9 parents and carers join us for the Year 9 Information Evening on Wednesday. This worked well as an online event and we had more parents attending than is usual! It looks as though we will have to run most of our events in this way for the immediate future. With presentations online and email communication it is possible for us all to communicate well and remain safe at the same time.

I am sure you will have heard about cases of Covid-19 in schools in Cornwall. We have received a letter from NHS Test and Trace which is added to the end of this newsletter for your information. There is a very clear set of steps that schools need to follow whenever a case is confirmed. Please be assured that we have this information and will follow expert’s advice to the letter should this be necessary.

I hope that you and your family remain well and if there is any way in which the school can offer support, please let us know.

Yours faithfully

Alex George

Interim Headteacher
