Letters from the Headteacher

Update - 30 April 2021

April 30th 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

This week all students have begun work in tutor times on the theme of peer on peer abuse, as I mentioned in last week’s newsletter. We will be addressing this issue several times over the next few weeks. Today many students will have watched a video and discussed this in their registration time. Some of the focus will take place in Character Education lessons as well as in tutor times for this half term.

Mobile phones are often linked to issues such as peer on peer abuse and please can you remind your children of our expectations. Mobile phones are permitted but they should be switched off and put away when in school. When under the direct supervision of a member of staff students are allowed to use a mobile phone, this is so that emergency calls can be dealt with. At all other times phones should be out of sight!

This week has been the last in our third Learning Cycle of the year. Across all subjects and years students have been completing assessments before they move onto new topics next week. In a couple of weeks, once we have collated grades from their teachers, you will receive your next set of reports.

Year 11 students and their parents should all have received an email yesterday. This was to let you know that they must complete all work that is set for their examination courses. If they still have work to complete they will need to keep coming to lessons after half term, but if all of it is finished then their last day in school will be the end of this half term on Friday 28 May. I hope that this is a good incentive to make sure that they work hard now! Following half term Year 11 students will be able to access some pre-Year 12 sessions so they have a taste of what is to come once they begin in our post-16 provision, Falmouth College.

It doesn’t seem right to have a newsletter without mentioning Covid. Please can you ensure that your child is completing their two weekly Covid tests so that we can keep our community safe. Thankfully the numbers of cases are continuing to fall.

I hope that you all have a good Bank Holiday weekend.

Best wishes

Alex George
