Letters from the Headteacher

Update 7 May 2021

May 7th 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

We are now halfway through this half term and one of our key priorities has been ensuring our exam classes have completed assessments that show the progress they have made. I would like to praise all of those students for the mature and positive way in which they have approached this period in school. Year 11 students have focussed really well in class and are working hard, they also have good attendance to school which is essential!

We have been hearing about the G7 summit in Cornwall on the news over recent weeks. The Media Centre will be based in Falmouth whilst the world’s leaders visit the area. Big congratulations go to Mya Gurrin, Year 12 student, who has been selected to be part of the Young People’s News Hub to cover the event. Mya was successful despite hot competition for this role from students across Cornwall.  Well done Mya!

We have decided that, as long as Covid statistics allow, we will move back to using PE changing rooms after half term. This will mean that all students will need to attend school in full school uniform from 7 June. They will change into PE kit before and after their PE lessons. Please can you ensure that your child has the correct full school uniform as shown on the school website at this link http://www.falmouth.cornwall.sch.uk/240/uniform

As mentioned last week, please remind your child that mobile phones are not to be used in school without a teacher’s permission. It appears that phones were heavily used during lockdown, for obvious reasons, but we would like to remove students’ dependence on mobiles whilst in school. Phones and social media bring all kinds of unwelcome challenges into school. Students have real people to talk to now who are much more engaging!

Best wishes

Alex George
