Letters from the Headteacher

Half Term Update

June 4th 2014

Welcome back to the final half term of the year. For Year 11, 12 and 13 students we are now well into the main exam season. Following on from the very successful Easter Revision School, we had a number of students in over half term working with their teachers on the final preparation for the exams. Our Year 11 students have now become ‘Associate Sixth Formers’ for the final few weeks of term. This change enables Year 11 to experience a little of what life is like in the Sixth Form as they complete their Key Stage 4 studies.

For the whole school, we are going to trial a slight tweak to the school day this half term. Our plans are to extend break time by 5 minutes and reduce lunch by the same amount. The start and finish times will remain the same. The plan should make the mid-morning lesson break slightly less rushed. With the very successful canteen arrangements now fully embedded, our lunch queues are now much less due to a much quicker point of sale. This has enabled us to look at spreading out the break times a little more evenly across the day.

If you have a child coming into Year 7 for September, we have just started our visits to our Primary partners in Falmouth. I, along with the lead staff for transition, am visiting each Primary School to talk to parents about the transfer to Secondary School. Please look out for the date and time for your Primary School if you would like to attend the presentation.
