27th January 2023
As you will have seen from my communication to you last week we have had confirmation from NEU that members of the union intend to take formal industrial action by participating in a strike which will take place on 1 February 2023.
Falmouth School will therefore only be open to Year 11 students and those students we feel would benefit from being in school rather than learning remotely at home. We would like your son/daughter to attend school on Wednesday 1 February at the normal school start time.

Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to inform you that following the announcement that the State Funeral for Queen Elizabeth 11 will take place on Monday 19 September, the Department for Education has stated that ‘this day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges’. Falmouth School and Sixth Form will therefore be closed on Monday 19 September.
I would also like to inform you that we are increasing the ways in which we communicate with parents and carers this year. A weekly Bulletin will be published every Friday and will be available for you to read on the school website. Please click on the News heading and you will see the weekly Bulletin listed as the second item. We hope that this gives you a picture of what is happening in school and also informs you of the forthcoming events.

Dear Parent/Carer,
We have welcomed students back to school this week and I am pleased to report that they have made a positive start. Following Mr Hayward’s communication to you earlier in the week, you should also know your child’s Tutor so that you can contact them directly should you need to do so. They will also be introducing themselves to you over the coming weeks.
Here is some information which we hope is useful for you to know.

We hope this letter finds you well and you are looking forward to the half term break. We also hope the summer weather arrives and you are able to get out and about to enjoy the fresh air.
Key Stage 4 and 5 parents/carers are fully aware that the exam season is upon us. The first weeks have gone smoothly and it has been great to see students turning up early for support from staff. It is important that students have a good balance over half term of down time and relaxation as well as revision. Your help in organising this is crucial. It is amazing how much time can be made available if students have an organised structure over the coming weeks. Please take some time to sit with your child/ren to help them organise their revision schedule and recreation time. If they engage well in their own revision and preparation, it will allow them to enjoy their free time more and provide them with confidence prior to their exams. We wish them all the best over the remaining few weeks of exams.

I hope that this letter finds both you and your families well.
The examination season has already begun for students in years 11 and 13. This is a very busy and exciting time for them.
You will be aware that external examinations have not taken place over the past two years and schools have therefore not required invigilators.
