It has only been 4 weeks since children have been back in school, but it has certainly been a busy time! Mass testing of students has come and gone (thank goodness!), face masks are being worn and we are enjoying being back. We have been blessed with good weather recently and it has been great to see students enjoy being outside together and each other’s company.

The return to school from lockdown has been a great relief for everyone and it’s been heartening to see the school full of smiling students again. It has been great to see students back in school this week. We have had very high attendance rates with over 90% giving consent to Covid testing. I would like to echo the words of Chris Challis, CEO of TRMAT, in thanking all of you for the support you have given to our students this half term. Remote learning is not easy for anyone and we all are looking forward to being back in school. I am sure that very many of us will be watching the Prime Minister’s announcement on 22 February when the roadmap forward is to be explained, to hear when students can be back in school safely.

It is great to hear that the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine is moving ahead so successfully. This means that the possibility that children may be able to return to school from 8 March is looking more likely. We still have not heard how this will happen, whether it will be certain year groups first, or on a rota

We were all pleased to hear from the government this week that there is the prospect of returning to school, even if that is some way off and depends on statistics of vaccination, as well as the infection rates.

Thank you for the many supportive emails that we have had recognising the work that our staff are completing, under difficult circumstances at this time. There have also been questions about how and why we have arranged our lockdown systems as we have.
