06.01.2023 - Letter to Parents
January 6th 2023
Dear Parents and Carers
Firstly, I would like to wish a really Happy New Year to you and your families. Most importantly, I would like to wish great success in 2023 and beyond to all our young people, our Falmouth students, who are the real heart of our school and central to everything we do.
I am writing to you, having concluded my first week as Headteacher of Falmouth School, and to share with you my thoughts and seek mutual collaboration. It has been a great pleasure to welcome students back to school and see them progress during their first week. My main focus has been to begin forging relationships with students over the course of the school day, whether upon their arrival in the morning, enjoying their break in the hall, visiting them in lessons or when waiting to be picked up at the end of the school day. I have seen overwhelming kindness, respect and a positive approach to learning from the students.
Undoubtedly, you want only the best educational experience possible for your son/daughter. You want them to be happy and successful in everything they do so that they are able to enjoy highly rewarding futures. Please be assured, as Headteacher, and with all of my staff, we have exactly the same vision. We want all our students to accomplish extraordinary success; to enjoy an extraordinary educational experience and flourish in an extraordinary school.
Therefore, we must have the highest expectations of ourselves and also of all our students every day. So that ‘every student succeeds’ we must maintain this high ambition, you and we, together. We will do this by working closely with you. In order for us to achieve and maintain this, I am asking you for your kind support and your active involvement. This letter is a brief introduction and I will communicate with you on more regular basis.
In the first instance my key focus is on the Trial Exams for Year 11, 12 and 13 which will take place over the next two weeks. It is imperative that the students in these year groups have our focus to ensure their outcomes from the trial exams support the systems we are developing to enable teachers to plan the key next steps in preparation for the summer exams.
Therefore, your support in asking your children to do their revision activities, asking them how they are getting on each day is essential. Those of you who have children in other year groups thank you in advance for being considerate of these events. You can support us by reminding your child about being lesson ready, learning ready, and mindful of the students sitting exams.
This half-term I am planning to continue parental engagement activities and I will communicate these with you. One of them will be the opportunity to meet with me where I will share with you my vision for Falmouth School and the priorities for the continued improvement journey.
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing all our students on Monday morning.
Kind regards
Lenka Chanter
Headteacher
