Mathematics

Using maths is a skill that everyone needs throughout our lives. When students leave Falmouth School we want them to be numeriacally literate and able to deal with mathematical problems real life may throw at them. This could range from students going to university, to them using mathematics in everyday jobs, such as accounting and finance, to sorting out a budget for some home DIY or working out tax and national insurance should they become self employed.

We will challenge students in class and expect them to always keep trying, being creative about the different ways they look at a problem. There are many different areas of Maths and so we will encourage our students to keep refreshing their memories on the different topics that we have covered. Completing maths problems is immensely satisifying and rewarding. We want our students to experience the feeling of success when they know they have it right, and to have confidence when faced with new and unfamiliar problems.
